LESSON 9
You Need To See To Believe
Our last lesson, is one of the most important. Our brains need to see what is possible for you, for you to also follow the same path to success. It’s called a possibility model, or belief neuroscience. We need to see to believe.
In this chapter, I share the journeys, success, tips and timelines from graduates who stood exactly where you are now. I want you to understand that we all start out exactly where you are now, and I want you to know that you – armed with the knowledge and methods you now have, your new community around you – well, everything is possible, in fact all of these students you will hear from in this lesson continue to go from strength to strength.
So, let’s hand the mic over to our graduates to illuminate your path ahead. And, when your time comes too — please reach out to us so that we can share your wonderful story with future students too.
“Believe you can and you’re halfway there.”
— Theodore Roosevelt
Workbook Time. Reach for your workbook, and complete Exercise 9.1, now. Now you have seen what has been very possible for others, what would you like for yourself? 5 years ago, as I was starting on what has turned out to be a great adventure, I was sitting on the floor of a half-finished shack suffering through a nasty divorce. The future really is what you make it.
“Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards.”
― Søren Kierkegaard
09. Homework
Read Seeing To Believe
Watch How To Overcome Imposter Syndrome and Stop Feeling Like A Fraud and jot down 6 tips in your workbooks, they are endlessly useful and I still refer to them often.
09. Community
It is so critical for your own journeys that you connect with your community, feel inspired by them, reach out for support when you need it, offer it where you can. For any of your more personal posts, consider using the hashtag #poss09 – if you’ve been good students and done your homework this lesson, shine your flashlight out (you’ll know about this if you’ve completed your homework this lesson!) so that others may shine it on you!
