Your syllabus looks like this.

Chapter 01 - Authenticity & Beauty

I love teaching my face-to-face workshops and seeing the effect it has on my students. It’s a chance for you to go deep within yourself and really think about what beauty and truth mean to you, and why that might be. What I love most about this is you’ll start to discover that you have a unique way of seeing the world, and that you don’t have to rely on anyone else’s sense of beauty to create something that’s authentic - and therefore beautiful - to you.

Chapter 02 - Principles of Storytelling

As human beings, storytelling is part of every cell of our bodies - even when we’re asleep we’re telling ourselves stories. Building on what you learnt in the previous lesson, you’re going to discover the story that’s unique to you and find out the many ways of using it in your creative life.

Chapter 03 - Design Process & Philosophy

You have spent the past couple of chapters finding out more about yourself than you could have thought possible. Now you’ve understood how beauty, authenticity and storytelling can work together, it’s time to get your hands dirty and start the process of planning, designing and creating. I’ll give you plenty of practical ideas on how to put a mood board together, how to brainstorm design ideas and how to create and test prototypes.

Chapter 04 - Principles of Style

Now that you have laid the groundwork, it’s time to do the lesson that all my students want to start with - styling your own space, which is relevant whether you’re planning your whole house or the backdrop for an object you may be creating. As a scientist, I’ve developed a set of 10 rules for styling that works every time - you don’t have to be a natural, just follow those rules and you really can’t go wrong. And because you’ve already found your story and what’s authentic to you, there will be nothing formulaic about the results.

Chapter 05 - Advanced Style

With so much knowledge already gathered, you will start to understand yourself in a completely new way and have a good sense of what is right for you. With plenty of practice in creating and styling your own space, you have all the basics under your belt. In this lesson, we will look at the subtle and sometimes unseen elements that make the world of difference to how you experience a space: light and shadow, smell, materials and – most important of all – life.

Chapter 06 - Botanicals

There’s no way in the world we can compete with nature - everything it makes is far more beautiful than anything we could make ourselves - so the best thing to do is collaborate with it. I’ll let you in on some tips I’ve picked up on how to use botanicals in any space, help you look in a whole new way at the natural world around you, and reveal my three amazing but really simple arrangements that work in any situation.

Chapter 07 - Press & Photography

I believe you can take a great photo on any device - it comes down to five simple rules, which will be revealed in this lesson. We will discuss photo editing apps and programs that are most useful, whether you are taking shots on your iPhone or on a regular camera.

A question often asked by my students how to get their work published - the truth is it’s not that hard. You’ll find out how in this chapter.

Chapter 08 - Storytelling & Social Media

Everything you need to know about marketing - you’ll never need to pay someone else to do it for you when you can do it so much better yourself anyway. You’ll discover how to make the most of Instagram and clever strategies for getting the word out about your place, product or project, including some real world examples. Maybe you don’t want everyone to know? That’s OK, too - you’ll have loads of fun doing the exercises I’ve concocted for you.

Chapter 09 - Graduate Stories

What’s next for you? I am as excited to find out as you are! To give you an idea of what that might be, I’m sharing some of my Graduates’ stories - they might have headed in a different direction from where you are expecting to go, and that’s okay. As you’ve discovered on this course, we are all unique, with our own authentic and beautiful stories to tell. You will be travelling on your own pathway, and where that might lead will be different for each one of you. Now you are well equipped with all the tools you need for the journey - so happy travels!

Chapter 10 - A Pot of Gold

This is always a bittersweet moment for me - I’m so proud of you for coming this far, but really sad that this is the last lesson. Before you sign off, I’m piling you up with everything else I know, giving you tips on how to stay in touch with each other and letting you know how to keep in touch with me.
